Clinical Corner

🥼Use the clinical corner as your secret weapon to impress your colleagues and patients!

This two-and-a-half-hour masterclass by Dr. Rhonda Patrick and Dr. Matthew Walker is a must-watch for sleep professionals.

One insight from this interview has led 1,000’s of our patients to understand the importance of sleep and what they can do about it.

“The Four Pillars” of sleep from Dr. Walker has been a valuable tool when educating patients.

1️⃣ Duration: Make sure your patients get the right amount of sleep for their chronotype, which is determined genetically. Most adults need between 7-9 hours of sleep per night. Encourage them to listen to their bodies and adjust their sleep schedules accordingly. ⏰

2️⃣ Depth: Encourage patients to focus on getting enough deep and REM sleep, both essential for overall health. Deep sleep helps with physical recovery, while REM sleep is vital for cognitive functions like memory consolidation and emotional regulation. 🧠💤

3️⃣ Continuity: Stress the importance of uninterrupted sleep. Fragmented sleep can lead to reduced sleep quality and leave patients feeling groggy. Recommend strategies to minimize disruptions, like turning off electronic devices before bedtime and creating a peaceful sleep environment. 🌙✨

4️⃣ Regularity: Help patients establish consistent sleep routines by going to bed and waking up at the same time every day, even on weekends. A regular sleep schedule supports the body's natural circadian rhythm and enhances overall sleep quality. ⏰🔄

“Your sleep quality is direct reflection on how you live your life.”

More Than Teeth

Since COVID-19 is a new virus, doctors are trying all sorts of treatments. The best way to treat it early on is to support the body's natural defenses.

Some experts think using existing medicines with proven safety might be a good way to help. And since COVID-19 can enter our bodies through the nose, they looked at a popular nasal spray. 🤔

This nasal spray, called Xlear Nasal Spray®, has xylitol and grapefruit seed extract (GSE) in it. These ingredients are safe and could help fight viruses like the coronavirus.

Researchers tested the nasal spray on three people with mild to moderate COVID-19 symptoms. They used it along with other treatments. And guess what? The patients got better faster and had negative COVID-19 tests sooner! 🎉

No one had any safety problems with the nasal spray. So, Xlear Nasal Spray might be a helpful add-on treatment for mild to moderate COVID-19 cases.

Here's the thing: poor sleep can cause a host of problems for kids, including difficulty concentrating in school, behavior issues, and developmental delays. Plus, mouth breathing can lead to dental problems like tooth decay and gum disease.

That's why it's important for pediatric dentists to screen for breathing and sleep disorders and offer treatment options to help children breathe and sleep better. By addressing these issues early on, we can prevent more serious problems down the line and improve our patient’s overall health and well-being.

So if your patients are experiencing sleep or breathing issues, don't hesitate to bring it up with their parents. Together, we can work to keep your little one healthy and happy.

Business of Sleep

📈Better businesses = more lives saved!

Ah, the action step in the sales funnel. This is where the rubber hits the road, folks. You've hooked your potential customer with a killer value proposition and nurtured them with some engaging content. Now, it's time to close the deal.

For a dentist or a dental lab, the action step could take a few different forms. Perhaps it's booking an appointment for a consultation or a procedure. Or, maybe it's sending in a mold for a custom dental appliance. Whatever it is, it's important to make it as easy and straightforward as possible for the customer.

Here are a few actionable tips to take your action step to the next level:

  1. Keep it simple: Nobody likes a complicated process, especially when it comes to something as personal as dental care. Make it as easy as possible for the customer to take action, whether that's by streamlining your online booking system or providing clear instructions for sending in a mold.

  2. Be responsive: When a potential customer takes action, they want to know that they're in good hands. Make sure you respond promptly and professionally to any inquiries or questions. Be consistent with your responsiveness or you’ll have patients with buyer’s remorse.😬

  3. Follow up: After the action step is complete, don't just sit back and wait for the customer to come back to you. Follow up with a friendly email or phone call to make sure they're satisfied with their experience and to encourage them to come back for future visits.

Remember, the action step is the culmination of all your hard work in the sales funnel. Make it count by providing a seamless and enjoyable experience for the customer. And hey, while you're at it, throw in a free toothbrush or a pack of floss. People love free stuff.
